Friday’s Five … or Seven

Too much to share this week to narrow it down to 5… enjoy!

1. Baseball is in full swing and my little ball player couldn’t be any cuter in his uniform. Not that I am bias or anything…
{instagram: paigecparker}
2. With baseball and soccer comes 80 degree weather and the big summer haircut. I think it aged him a couple of years…do you know that kid? Me, either.

3. Also with spring comes … Tornado season. yuck! But, this little guy makes a rainy day look so much better:

4. Hayden had his last preschool art show this week. I can’t believe we are off to “big school” in the fall.
All 3 years of art shows for our little family. Of the 100 shirts HAP has hanging in his closet, I would pick the same one 2 years in a row for the same event. Oops.

5. I love me a good eCard. This one pretty much sums up my daily struggle to make it to the gym:

6. I’ve seen this video making the social media circuit for a while now but never clicked on it to see what it was all about. My aunt sent it to me on FB this morning and it was like looking in a mirror. Story. Of. My. Life. Although, I must say, mine and Will’s rapping skills could give them a run for their money.

7.Another video.. this one is HILARIOUS! I think I’ve watched it 20 times and I laugh more every time. It will definitely put a smile on your face for the rest of this Friday.

The Power of Makeup

I don’t call myself a “Makeup Guru” by any means. Since I did go through Cosmetology school, I do know a thing or two about makeup. However, I don’t wear makeup often. Yes, I probably should. I am definitely not one of the blemish free olive skin tone I don’t wear makeup kind of girls. I am the complete opposite. My day consist of running my kids around town in my workout clothes and going to the gym and sweating my tail off in between stops. So, I don’t really have the time or want to put makeup on. Although, I’m sure the general public wishes that I would. When I do wear makeup I get an overwhelming amount of compliments. Sure makes a stay at home mom feel good. I’m not sure if its actually because of my makeup or the fact that its just so much better than what I look like without.. see below. Scary! I have spent a lot of time and money on makeup. I have been through countless tubes of the “fad” things that they tell you to buy in magazines or the internet and I have finally (after many many years) come across my makeup “MUST HAVES”. I have even experimented enough to find drug store buys for some of my favorite higher end brands. You can thank me later. 🙂

These 2 pictures were taken the SAME DAY…less than 12 hours apart from each other. Now, tell me you don’t believe in the power of makeup. I look downright scary in the left ones. #1 I can’t believe I even posted them on here and #2 no wonder people always compliment my makeup, anything at this point is probably better than seeing face on left everyday. oops. I’ve seen these pictures side by side for 4 months now and I still continue to go without makeup daily. Maybe I should change that…Maybe not.

In my defense, I did just finish running a half marathon and had been awake since 4:30 a.m. in the pictures on the left. Don’t judge me too hard. Too late? I thought so.

Below is a list of the makeup I use, maybe you will find a new favorite, too!

I have fair , normal/oily skin. I can’t use moisturizer or my face becomes a grease fest and I can’t use astringent because my face becomes dry and flaky. So, I just skip those steps.

Friday’s Five

1. Our last Easter pic as a family of 4.

photo 1

2. After the Easter festivities I cut 8 inches off of my sister’s hair. For those of you that don’t know, before this whole stay at home mom/wife job I did have an actual “real job” doing hair. I still do it on the side and I’m kind of obsessed with my sis’s haircut:

We’re practically twins now, right? A much younger, cuter me! ha! 🙂

3. I’m still raving over the Chicken and Dumplings I made on Wednesday night from Mix and Match Mama ( I wrote about them here: ) I’ve had them for every meal since. Don’t judge me, I’m pregnant and the husband is on a business trip so it was a fend for yourself night anyway. <—– you totally bought those excuses of why I’ve had chicken and dumplings for 4 meals in a row, didn’t ya?

{ photo cred: Mix and Match Mama, duh! }

4. Speaking of the hubster being away on business…in our house that means I get to play the good guy for once. See… I’m usually the whistle blower, schedule maker, rule follower, yeller in this house. Don’t get me wrong Will is definitely the disciplinarian, but for some reason he only has to say it once and calmy and they respond. Typical. So, since Mr. Nice Guy was out of town I treated the boys to  a later bed time, popcorn, cookies and juice boxes IN their bedroom. WHAT?? Who am I?? They loved it and I loved it. Win-Win.

5. You mean its been raining for a month and we are going to have a WHOLE WEEKEND in the 70’s. YIPPPEEEEE!!! I am looking forward to this for so many reasons.. baseball and soccer while wearing sunglasses and not a rain jacket, beginning to get our back patio and yard “spring/summer ready”, staying outside until the sun goes down and we HAVE to go in… I could keep going …

April Meal Plan

April… already? Wow. March Madness was in full effect at our house and I am not talking about Basketball. But, speaking of basketball…I am numero uno in our bracket. I am so enjoying the bragging rights…hoping I can stay that way until the end but thinking my cousin, Rachel, is going to pull out the win 😦 So, I’m basking in the glory while I can.

photo (1)

See that? Me, “Clueless”, number 1 and that’s right… The husband is in last place! Go Me!! 🙂

Now, back to our own March Madness. Baseball and Soccer are in full swing with HAP practicing 4-5 days a week for one or the other. We had a wedding, weekend travels and a nasty stomach bug that resulted in a false labor/dehydration/hospital stay. Needless to say our March budget and meal plan was non existent. It happens. I’m hoping April is nicer to us…PLEASE!

photo 1

I don’t wear “dehydration” well. There’s proof, right there. Gross.

With March behind us, let’s see what I’ll be cooking up for April. April is equally filled with baseball, soccer and weekends away which has left me only having to plan 9 meals for the month. You’ll notice the majority of them are crockpot meals. Easy to throw everything in in the mornings and have it ready when we are home from practice. Here they are with recipes linked in:

Bacon Ranch Chicken ( )

Beef Tips & Gravy ( )

French Dip Sandwiches ( )

Homemade Pizza

Chicken and Steak Fajitas

Chicken & Dumplings ( ) Seriously, the best chicken and dumplings I’ve ever made/tasted. I’m eating them as I type this…See…

photo 2

I’ve tried a million C&D recipes and this one takes the cake BY FAR! It’s so easy and perfect in every way. Go make it.. NOW!

photo 3

Broccoli & Sausage Ravioli ( )

Pork Tenderloin with Roasted Veggies

That’s it. Easy month. The first 3 recipes were from “The Crockin’ Girls” ( ) . I love their stuff and you can never go wrong with their recipes. They are easy and family friendly. The other 2 recipes I linked are from Mix and Match Mama ( ). There are many things I love about Shay. #1 if you are a fan of “The Bachelor” , then you know she is Sean Lowe’s sister. #2 She has an adorable family, a great faith and she shares many details about both in her blog. And, #3 She has GREAT recipes. Easy, budget and kid/family friendly. If you aren’t following her blog, you should be.

Anyway, that’s all folks…I’ll do better with this blog thing this month.
